How is hair transplant performed?

The operation is performed under local anesthesia or sedation and is usually completed in one session. However, additional sessions may be required depending on the width of the area where the hair will be transplanted. Hair transplant methods vary according to several factors such as the number of follicles and recovery time of the candidates who want to undergo this procedure. FUT Technique

In the FUT technique, which is one of the oldest hair transplant methods, the hair follicles in the nape area are cut and removed together with the tissue underneath. The removed tissue is divided into pieces to contain 1 to 4 pieces of hair follicles. These pieces are inserted into the points opened with incisions in the area to be transplanted. The part where the hair follicles are removed together with the skin layer is closed by suturing. Since the hair follicles are taken and transplanted in bulk, the process duration is short. However, since the roots are cut together with the tissue, the healing process after the procedure is relatively longer than other methods and a scar remains in the incision area.

FUE Technique

In this method, unlike the FUT technique, donor hair follicles are collected one by one. The follicles are kept in a cold area in a special solution and transplanted to the area where hair transplantation will be performed. Since the process of collecting and transplanting hair follicles is not performed separately for each follicle, the operation time is longer compared to the FUE technique. However, since no incision is made during the operation, recovery takes a shorter time. In the FUE technique, hair follicles are collected one by one manually by human hands, but there is also a computerized version. This technique is known as robotic hair transplant.

DHI Technique

This method is applied after the hair follicles are removed by applying the FUE technique, and the process of placing the follicles is performed using a special pen. The advantage of the DHI technique is that no separate procedure is applied to open the canal where the roots will be placed. The canal is opened with a pen and the root is transplanted immediately.

Recovery after hair transplant surgery

When the surgery is over, the area where the procedure was performed is wrapped with a bandage. You can remove the bandage and take a shower 1-2 days after the procedure. During the first week, you may feel ready to go to work and do light exercises such as walking. If you have been stitched, you can have your stitches removed after 2 weeks and start more active and moderate-paced exercises. Within the first month, your transplanted hair will fall out and new roots will be ready to grow. After completing 1 year, the final outcome will be visible.
